Lift Every Voice

Lift Every Voice is a paid fellowship that aims to address widespread racial inequity in the field of classical music by providing mentoring and performance opportunities to aspiring classical singers who might otherwise lack the network and support to advance their careers in choral music and solo oratorio performance. These artists provide skilled support to Cantate Concert Choir on each of its three season concerts while receiving professional-level training and first-hand experience in the performance of varied choral repertoire. In the program’s third full year (2026-2027) each of these fellows will receive additional support and opportunities from Cantate’s community of seasoned arts professionals: resume consulting, vocal coaching, two oratorio masterclasses open to the public, access to oratorio rehearsals and performances with Cantate and partner organizations, and a dedicated solo showcase at the end of the Cantate season. Fellows will emerge from their residency with Cantate better prepared to advance their musical careers in the choral field.
